This amp is fixed bias with 370V on the plats bit still only produces 12w output. My guess is that it uses an 8k OT and has a lot of screen resistance (5k). Not sure of the idle dissipation but my guess is pretty hot (70℅). The secondary voltage should be around 330Vac for the 370Vdc plate with a 5y3.
You could substitute with a gz34 rectifier and get above 400V on the plates, rebias using the bias pot for around 60% idle dissipation (remember the amp is frid biased). Finally add a 12ay7 in v1 and you should have more wattage…

U think I could put a 5au4 rectifier in EC tremolux without hurting it ?
and get more clean head room? Not sure about the 60% comment on rebias. I use allesandro bias kit, set amp to around 28 so far…would I raise or lower it with 5au4?

Has any one successfully modded this amp? ie; anyone beefed up this amp and got more volume and head room out of it like suggested in the comments above? Love the amp it just isn’t hot enough in a live situation.
    Thanks

I had mine modded to have a master volume. It is what all amps need IMO

What would one of these amps be going for…lightly used very good condition? Thanks Tim

I own one. Believe it or not, it’s plenty loud.

I bought a separate cabinet with a 15 inch and three 4 inch speakers and used the amp as a head. It’s portable (without my cab), loud enough for a drummer and can be quiet on low power for the house..

But, the tremolo is too much for me. Eric might dig it, I don’t.
