I bought this amp in ’89 and still own it today. This is the amp I use for gigs. Full sound, great reverb, enough power for a big room and excellent sound. One twelve inch speaker that I sometimes connect with another 12 inch cabinet for a wider sound with more bass and fuller sound. Rodriguez designed and still one of the greatest Fender amps ever built. Huge power and great reverb with gain and enough effects to play in most rooms. Love it, but not the 60 pound weight.

who is Rodriguez, and how do you know he had anything to do with the design of this amp??? All credible publications I’ve seen say Mark Wentling was the designer (along with the Fender Engineering team he led).
I agree, Rivera did not design this amp , Mark Wentling did. I bought a used one in mint condition, changed the tubes, and speaker and it is a surprising amp, very clean ; the new tubes give it a warmth and it has very nice tone. I also have a Rivera and two Mesa Boogies and does not have the volume and head room that the other three amps have unless I crank up the Mid. Still is is a nice little amp.

I have one. I bought it new. I was at Guitar Center in San Jose CA, it had just hit the floor, and I plugged into it. WOW. Tone, crunch, and a lot of tonal variations. Replaced the tubes once, but otherwise it has been solid. Finding this prompted me to bring it out of the closet and play it again. Wow. I still love it (but it does need some TLC. The pots are a bit noisy, and the input 1 jack is a bit flakey. Fabulous amp, very versatile, and LOUD for what it is.
Hi. Can anyone tell what kind of speaker there is in Fender Super 60? I have one of these and wonder… The online information I can fins on the speaker is; “Fender musikal instrument spesial design speaker”, no. 1256-1 on the membrane. I like to compare with Jensen, Celestion, ett. Sine regards Egil Stenset, Norway
Mine is covered in Red Lizard Skin Tolex. Also it does boast a tube powered spring reverb and the speaker that comes standard just says Fender Instruments Special Speaker on a blue label. But then again, my knobs are black with white and the aforementioned red tolex.
Anyone know what footswitch to use with this amp/what it’ll control (channel, reverb…)? Thanks!
http://www.thomann.de/fr/fender_fussschalter_einfach.htm. It works good.
where can I get a footswitch for the super 60 & how much $ ?
There is also a ECC81 pre-amp tube.
I love my recently purchase Super 60. Unfortunately the mid tone pot broke off since it was loose to begin with. The amp still works but is obviously missing something. I cannot find another correct pot or even an old chassis to rebuild in my shop. Sad times. Wonderful amp even though is 60 pounds but worth it.
I am looking for the same exact pot for an amp of mine. I found the Fender service manual, and it says that this pot is Fender Part # 029500, but I can’t find one anywhere either. If I locate one that will work I will post the info here.
Hee is it possible to make a copy of the service manual?
Thnx

I like it because it’s ,”got that perfect fender twin style E.Q. Than its got a smooth high gain not found on fenders. A perfect marriage of features. These amps are sleeper treasures. That’s ok, more for me in value. Since the entire world are buying our good American amps.
