I own one, a 2002, seems they were made till 2003 on,y one year, they are simply brilliant, pretty rare also it seems, it to be confused with the three position switch type or the blacktop.
They were more available. The bridge pup is pretty wild, I lowered mine a little to balance it better, and put strap locks on, I may put roller sadles in as I have some around, but am resisting so far in at attempt to keep her stock!
Seriously if you can get one…. Do- I won’t part with mine, for a mim- I doubt it could feel or play better if she was American made.. Well done Fender!

Hi,
I believe i have the same strat. Could you send some pics to compare?
Like u said, seems like they are limited and info rare aswell.
Mine was made ’02 aswell.
Regards.
I have a first year model (1999, but with a leftover 1998 serial). It is an AMAZING guitar!!!!!!!! Mine has the best neck of any strat I have ever owned. I have a 1993 American Standard Stratocaster and I have also owned an American Standard from 2000 and 2010 and this 1999 Mexican Deluxe Double Fat is better than all of them. I changed out the bridge pickup for a Seymour Duncan JB Trembucker. If you get a chance to get one one of these, do not let it pass you by!
I bought my 2001 new in 2021. It was on the lower rack in a dark corner of a sleepy little guitar shop in a dead end town. It was simply overlooked for 20 years. It puts all American made strays to shame. Build quality is superb. This guitar is so rare, there are only 2 actual videos on YouTube about it. Hang in to yours. One day it’ll be worth a new car.
