Does anyone know when they started making them in Mexico? It does not say Made in USA like the 90’s version so I assume
they make it There. And by this I mean the LTD version. Thanks

I read somewhere that it was in 2003, but I kinda doubt it was that late. More like late 90’s sometime.

Made in USA Reissue (solid state rectifier) from 1990-2003, Made in Mexico LTD (tube rectifier) from 2003-present.

Easiest way to tell is this: if there’s a ground switch next to the fuse on the top panel, it’s a Reissue.

Does anyone know if they did a version of this with a 15” speaker? GC has one listed, but I can’t seem to find a mention of one anywhere.

the reissue has a different tone stack than the 5f6-a. it uses a 100k slope resistor on a 0.1 bass cap. the design that’s most associated with the tweed ’59 bassman uses a 56k slope resistor on a 0.02 bass cap. actually, both configurations were used on the originals from the fender production line, though the official fender schematic stays with the first option of a 0.02 bass cap and 56k slope. why fender diverged from the official schematic on some amps and not others is anyone’s guess? techs find original 59’s with both setups. both sound great, but the second 100k slope with 0.1 bass cap produces a far more pronounced midrange drop and lower bass response. the sound is closer to the entirely re-designed bassman circuit that came out in 1960.

I have this week bought a s/h Bassman Reissue after reluctantly having to sell my Bassman Ltd last year. It has had a mod, where a master volume has been created where the Ground switch would be; it’s a nice touch, allowing breakup to be achieved at indoor levels.

But to me, it seems to lack the power of the Ltd, even with the master wide open, and appears to generate more hiss than I recall the Ltd ever doing. Also, I noticed, last night, that there is a fair bit of low–end response missing, as has been stated above.

    Thoughts?
