I owned a 1965 Hagstrom 3 in my ‘after high school’ rock band in 1966.It was red and it was a fabulous guitar for all the hits back then
Grandma bought me a Hagstrom III black beauty in 1966. My band “The Ants” performed Motown to Morrison – and the Hagstrom was an absolute sweetie played through a 64 Bandmaster. Thanks kindly Grandma !
In 1966, my Mother & Father bought my twin brother & I sunburst Hagstrom III’s for Christmas gifts. I got a 6-string guitar and my brother got the bass guitar. That same year, my older brother a Slingerland blue sparkle drum set. Of course, it was the Beatles that made us want to play (like thousands of kids)! In 1966, my twin brother & I started our first band, The Termites. Of course, the name was picked because of The Beatles. So many of the bands in the British invasion had followed suite with animal/insect names. I am happy to say, both my brother and I are still playing, semi-professionally. We don’t own the Hagstrom III’s anymore, but remember it with fondness. It was the greatest gift my parents could have ever given to us…the gift of music. It will last our whole lives. Thanks Mom & Dad!!!
I recently inherited a 1972 hagstrom 3 sunburst.
Big problem is that all three pick ups are dead.
Does anyone know what kind of single coil pick ups will fit with out modifying the cosmetics of this beauty?
Are you sure their dead, I have one that had some grounding issues and all of them came alive.
Maybe Stratocaster pups might work?!

I have a H III from 77 , strange because says it was mede up to 1972 ! Beatifull Sunburst ….
